Summer Outfit Ideas for Dates and Girls' Night Out

“Try this Look! – You’ll be More than Red Carpet-Worthy”

When you’re getting all dolled up for a girl’s night out, celebrating a special occasion, or heading off on a big date, turn to your favorite celebs for inspiration. This season’s hottest styles in dresses, pantsuits, and other dressier clothes could be a great match for that special occasion ensemble. Some of the top trends for the season include sequins, neons, bright and bold prints, and color-blocking styles. Whether you want to pull off a classic Hollywood look or show off your sense of style in an avant-garde ensemble, try some of these fresh new looks and you’ll be more than red carpet-worthy!

The Little White Dress

Trade your little black dress for a white number this season and you’ll show off your tan and gorgeous gams. Stars like Lea Michele have been spotted wearing this super-chic dress on the red carpet and you can wear it with some straw wedge sandals, gleaming silver or gold accessories, or a colorful sash for the complete look.

Two Tone Dresses

Color blocking is one of the hottest trends of the season so take your pick of bold and bright hues in a two-tone dress. A fitted dress with a dark bodice and lighter lower half will draw attention to the hips and legs. A long dress with a lighter colored bodice and darker lower half will accentuate the waist and upper body. Just remember that two-tone dresses do tend to cut you in half so avoid them if you want to mask any figure flaws around the midsection or if you’re short.

Striped Dresses

Horizontal or vertical sailor stripes are among the hottest trends of the season and can be a fun alternative to more classic dress styles. Stick with bandage-style dresses and very fitted, shorter dresses when sporting this look so you can show off buff legs and arms. A striped dress with a boatneck or a deep v-neck paired with peep-toe pumps and a simple clutch can add a sporty but still feminine twist to your ensemble. Embroidered Gowns

If you want to stick with a very feminine and classic look, go with a full-length gown that has embroidered flowers cascading down the side or around the waist. Designer Valentino’s spring and summer collection includes some beautiful gowns decked out in embroidered flowers and flower appliques. These can be perfect for more formal occasions such as wedding parties and other social functions. Take a look at Valentino Floral Applique Embroidered Gown for inspiration.

Sheer Lace Dresses

Amber Rose + Mint = Super Lovely Combo

Show a little skin without overdoing it in a sheer lace or organza dress. These dresses were among the top trends on the fashion runways for the season and can be a great alternative to more modern styles. Look for vintage-inspired looks with ruffles, layered skirts, and billowing sleeves.

White Pantsuits

Pantsuits are still a hot trend on the red carpet and on the runway this season so don’t shy away from sporting a pantsuit instead of a dress for that next special occasion. An all-white pantsuit can be a very chic ensemble for almost all body types. Look for one-shoulder or off-shoulder suits that accentuate the collarbone and draw attention to the face. All-white ensembles are perfectly paired with silver jewelry or a gleaming silver handbag. Try something like Rachel Zoe Tailored Tuxedo Jacket with matching pants.

Leather Dresses

A pink, red, or blue leather dress with a frock-style bottom and sheer sleeves is an avant-garde look that’s sure to turn some heads during that special event. This red carpet-worthy look can be very polished and refined when paired with some beaded ankle-strap sandals and a matching handbag. Take a look at Valentino cocktail dress in pink for inspiration.
