Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soleil Weekend - Socialite Adventure

From the Soundtrack of My Life post, ya'll know that Michael Jackson was my first musical and celeb crush love, circa 1988.  My first little crush was kissing the screen to his Moonwalker video at the tender age of 2, lol.  Therefore when I heard that the Cirque Du Soleil in his honor added Chicago to its world tour, I HAD to get tickets.

My extremely tall buddy Orie came from Atlanta to share in the experience with me and we tore up Chicago that weekend :D  Here are the photos!

What an awesome show it was!  Human Nature was done in a gorgeous way with people lit up as stars in the sky, swirling and tumbling in the dark; I'll Be There made me cry because it was simply young Michael who was full of potential and life singing as a youngster acapella....super poignant; Is It Scary was awesome with the 'monster' going through the book of tales in a way that made it apparent that she simply can not have a spine, Dangerous was the sexiest pole dance that I've ever seen, and overall the show was done in a way that MJ would have loved because he adored Cirque du Soleil and they would have made him proud.  Some of the song remixes were particularly perfect such as "Wanna Be Starting Something" with the salsa beat and the mix of "Beat It".  LOVED

My favorite part, however, was the Heartbreak Hotel/Smooth Criminal/Dangerous section that flowed into each other and brilliantly combined his dances with newspaper headlines on screen and costumes.  Blown away!

We had such a good time :)

Of course, I had to show her CHICAGO while she was here.  We literally walked from the very southern tip of Downtown to the Northern part where the Water Tower is....talk about aching feet!  We could barely WALK the next day, my goodness.

Dick's Last Resort - LOL, wow what a night.  Let's just say that Orie got a new nickname of DYSON :P I thought I could drink...sister girl was done with a drink before I could even get the cherry off the top of mine, lmao.  What fun

and what's a trip to Chicago without deep dish pizza???? We went to Pizza Capri in Hyde Park:

What a fun weekend :)  I love introducing folks to my city :D
