Beauty Blogger QOTD: Favorite Eyeliner?

My favorite eyeliner at the moment is Stila's Kajal liners because they are so rich and creamy.  They are highly smudgeable for a sexy smoky eye.

The smudge factor can also be a major pain in the you know what for day to day use, so I'd like to try some liners that are heavily pigmented but stay put once worn.  Two brands that I desire to try are Make Up for Ever Aqua Eyes liners and Urban Decay 24/7 liners because they are touted as being long-wearing and won't produce raccoon eyes!  Not to mention, they both have a HUGE range of colors to choose from!

Spooktacular Halloween Weekend

What a fun-filled weekend!  Did you have a good one?  Dress up as anything for Halloween?  Party hard?

The bff and I decided to round up our two favorite children (my baby cousin MoMo and the bff's niece Ashley) and take them out for some fall fun at a pumpkin patch.  They had bunnies, pig races, funnel cake, haunted barn, hayrides, baby animals, and of course pumpkins!

After some kiddy fun, it was time for us to drop them at home and go out for some grown folks fun.  I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a couple of years, so it was cool to get all decked out and party the night away!  I purchased an Athena Goddess costume, but because it was so cold I put on a long sleeved shirt under it and looked more like a medieval queen, so I dubbed myself the pure Virgin Queen for Halloween :D  The bff was a genie and her friend Ariel was a rockstar.  The downtown Chicago club Le Passage was chosen as our party location and it turned out to be a super fun time!  We had nonstop dancing partners, drinks were flowing, and music was good & thumping.  Definitely an A+ evening!  My favorite costumes of the night was a group that came in body painted as the people from Avatar, it was soooo well done but I just KNOW that they were cold with only body paint as a "covering"!  Unfortunately didn't get any pictures of them, but here's our looks of the evening:

Great times!  How did you spend your Halloween Weekend?

Budget Fashionista Find: Urban Original

We still like to look good, even though most of our pockets aren't all that loaded these days.  For this reason, I love stumbling upon websites that offer super cute items for a VERY cute price if ya know what I mean!

One such site that I wanted to share with you guys is Urban Originals ( http://www.urbanog.com).  They have super cute shoes, accessories, and clothing!  Here are some of m favorite pieces, what do you think?

Bumper Hera-01 Studded Ankle Bootie $24.70

I really love the heel on these and the details of the studs and different materials!  Very chic indeed.

French Door Dress $26.90

Look at the awesome detailing on the back!  Loving the look of the sheer panels.

Bamboo Liberate-01 Zipper Slouchy Knee High Wedge Boot $29.90

These boots are beyond cute to me!  Good sole for getting around in, cute wedge for height, design that makes them wearable with pants or dresses....win all around and the price is right.

Liliana Margi-2 Knitted Mid-Calf Boot $25.90

These are like cute pumps with built in socks, lol.  I like them because they are different (I've never seen anyone walking around with them) and they'd fit girlies like me who have thick calves that aren't always welcome in many calf or knee high boots.

Fahrenheit Elsy-01 Leopard Pump $24.90

Animal prints are uber hot this fall and why not wear them on your feet?  I love that pop of fun by wearing a sexy pair of shoes like these.  Skirt, dress, pants, anything would look hot with these!

Bring The Bling Handbag $60.90

This is a great large sized bag that has visual appeal with the "bling" embellishments.

Most Wanted Fur Vest  $22.90

Faux fur, especially in vest form, seems to be all the rage this fall and I like this version of the trend.  Price is fab and look is nice.

Anyway, there are lots more pieces on the site, so give it a browse for some low cost yet highly cute items :)  Dig anything that I've shown?

The Love of Girl Friends

undefined

In this age of text messages, IMs, facebook, twitter, bbm, and emails, it's quite EASY to stay in touch with people, but the communication can be very surface level.  What I'm cherishing so much lately are the nurturing, in-person loving friendship interactions.  Nothing beats the love of a great best friend.

It can be the little things, like a hilarious inside joke that makes you laugh for days later as you rethink the funny moments shared entertaining each other at the kitchen table over a piping hot deep dish pizza.  Or maybe it's the nurturing grooming fun of painting each others nails, washing and styling each other's hair while music blasts throughout the house.  Perhaps the moment is eating brownies and moscato while watching a movie together or consoling with hugs and advice through a tough time.

All of these moments are worth cherishing and need to be kept alive in real life, not just through a quick text message or email.  I'm giving a shout out to my BFF Ashley for bringing me food when I'm hungry, making me almost choke with laughter at hilarious snarky quips she's made, knocking on the door in the morning so that my lazy self will workout with her instead of procrastinating, tenderly washing my hair and massaging my scalp when I needed it, and just being the awesome lovely she is.  I hope that I am just as good a friend to her and that she knows that I appreciate her wholly.  Try to get together with your bff at least once a week, I promise that it will elevate your life!

Give a shout out to your best friend!  What are some cherished memories that you hold together?

Katy Perry and Rihanna, bffs

Hump Day Hotties - EyeCandy Wednesdays (Hotties We'll Always Remember, RIP)

This Hump Day Hotties will focus on those hotties who are gone but NEVER forgotten!  May they stay young, hot, and sexy in the great beyond and we thank them for ever blessing us with their talent and good looks.  They were some of our first crushes or prototypes of men that we want to this day.  RIP hotties, we'll always love and remember you!

Patrick Swayze - I first laid eyes on him in Dirty Dancing and to say that I was swept away by the movie would be an understatement!  My auntie and I would watch it every weekend, bopping to the awesome soundtrack with me secretly wishing that I had someone to snatch me out of the corner too ;)  And I dare one person to tell me that they didn't sob during "Ghost"! He was with his wife for over 30 years and seemed to be just as great a guy off-screen as he was on screen.  Love you Patrick! <3

Elvis Presley - The King of Rock & Roll was a helluva hottie when he was younger!  With a curl of his lip, flick of his hip, he set the world on FIRE!  Girls didn't know what to do with themselves and by the looks of him, can you blame them?? I feel a hunka hunka burning love for sure!

Marlon Brando was so incredibly sexy; such a fine man!  He had a long distinguished career and was quite the gorgeous one back in his day.  Like moths to a flame, women were madly drawn to him!  Easy to see why, huh?

James Dean was exactly who I had in mind when I CREATED the brooding hotties post but decided to leave him for this one.  He was so.....alluring!  "Live Fast, Die Young" indeed :(

And now, for my ultimate love that I never even considered saying good-bye to...it'll always be the 80s for him to me and I'll remember him as a young, sweet, quirky, talented, epic hottie with the big sad eyes and gorgeous smile.  Michael Jackson, you'll always be my pyt hottie baby. RIP to the King of Pop

(he was SO hot in this video below, it should have been a normal release...the jacket striptease in the beginning, kick at 1:45, dip at 2:24, i have NO words for what happens at 3:03 *drools*, the sexy blessing at 4:21, and i can't BELIEVE I wasn't standing in front of him for 5:16-5:26....yeah, i've watched this video way too many times :shifty: REPEAT)

Love those hotties.....sigh, gone too soon!  Who are some of your favorite hotties you'll always remember?  (For previous hump day hotties posts, click here)

You Can Hue It - Colorful Lips

Hey Socialites!  We have a guest post by Shanerii of www.DeChantaShanerii.com  today as a part of the "You Can Hue It" series of brown girls knowing that they can wear bold colors in makeup.  Let's welcome her shall we?? *waves hello*  and now for the post:

Chocolate Chicks Rock Colorful Lips

Many say beauty is in the eye of the beholder…and I agree that beauty should not be so narrowly defined which is typical for mainstream America.  Especially everyday and or exotic brown beauties that aren’t displayed enough on the runway, the media or in publications –unless they are created by ethnic folks themselves. Nonetheless,  in 2010 we can honestly say that we  have started to see slight acceptance in the variations on beauty in shapes, sizes, complexions start to emerge in all sorts of medium all over the world. With that said, I am one chocolate chick annoyed with other brown chicks who make statements in reference to being afraid to experiment within the realm of their beauty  -or simply thinking it wasn’t made for them. I’m talking bold hues in clothing, shoes, accessories, make-up, home accents and furnishings, etc… It’s almost as if they psych themselves out, for color doesn’t fit their lifestyle?  The truth is that color fits everyone’s lifestyle….

I’m a staunch advocate for Chocolate Chicks in Colorful Lipstick…he he. I’m a staunch advocate for lots of more important social causes and remedies, but  for the moment let’s stick with adding pops of color to your personal style.  Last week I went to the mall for lunch and ended up going straight to make-up stores…Sephora, M.A.C. and Target – the cosmetics section.

This season the colors that are trending are the deep and dark berries, variations on the classic red, rich variations of orange and nudes.  At Sephora and M.A.C., I tried on various lip colors  that caught my eye and took swatches (photo #2 below) of other products I liked for future make-up hauls.  My parting thought: I love all of these highly-pigmented long lasting statement lips!

Nude  ~  NARS, Velvet Matte Jumbo Lip Pencil “Bettina” $24 @ Sephora

(Style Tip: Before applying any lip color always be sure to prep & prime or moisturize. Below the nude lip pencil is in the center of the lips accompanied by M.A.C. lip liner pencil in “Chestnut”)

Orange   NARS, Semi-Matte Lipstick “Heatwave” $24 @ Sephora

Red  ~  M.A.C., Matte Lipstick “Ruby Woo” $14.50

(Style Tip: Rock the matte by itself, Pair it with a lip pencil to darken shade,  or Add gloss for shine)

A versatile lip color that is worn by all complexions. Gwen Stefani’s signature red lip preferred product is M.A.C.’s Ruby Woo (photo credit: splashnews.com).

Deep Dark Berry/Eggplant Color  ~  Wet n’ Wild, “508A” under $2 @ Rite Aid

(Style Tip: Pair it with a lip pencil to keep color in place. I used M.A.C’s “Currant”)

Fellow Socialites, what bold hue  will be your signature lip stain this fall???

My color is M.A.C’s Matte Lipstick “So Chaud,” paired with Chestnut liner. I love the burst of color against the backdrop of my complexion!

To explore further and find your color(s) visit  your nearest Sephora for a plethora of brandsshades and price points.

Fashionably Yours,

Shanerii

This Song is Owning My Soul Right Now

Anyone who follows me on twitter or has seen my blog enough knows that I am a huge fan of Diana Ross & The Supremes, along with anything from the 60s and 80s.  Bright colors, glam, wigs, cool makeup, I'M SO THERE!  Well anyway, someone made an awesome mashup of Solange's I Decided (which already had a 60s pop gorgeous colorful video) with The Supremes Come See About Me (one of my favorite Supremes songs!) for a song that I find to be PURE AWESOMENESS!!  What do you think of the mashup?

Sephora's Friends & Family Sale Purchases

The annual Friends & Family sale is ON at Sephora and being the beauty junkie that I am, just had to hurry and scoop up some items!  It's going on through November 3rd and the code is FF2010 for 20% off.  What are YOU getting?

So far (because with it going on so long, I can't promise that I won't purchase more, lol) these are the items that I grabbed (and got $17 in savings! jackpot!):

-Replacement Clarisonic sensitive face brush head because the face brush is such a good cleaning tool for an at home spa facial daily.  Purchase the Clarisonic in pink and support breast cancer awareness!  Have you ever used a Clarisonic?  What do you think of it?

Skincare Tools by clarisonic at ShopStyle
Brushes & Applicators by clarisonic at ShopStyle

-Korres has been impressing me lately with their skincare line because of the AWESOME thyme honey moisturizer that I keep going on about so I bought the Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser.  Ever used any Korres products?

Makeup by Korres at ShopStyle

-I replenished my Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Corrector because people have been saying that my skin pigment issues have been clearing up, so I'm not sure if it's from the Clinique or using lemon juice after washing my face or WHAT but I figure I could use another bottle of this and see what happens.  Do you have a spot corrector/pigment discoloration lightener that you love?  Share what it is if you do!

What are you buying at the Sephora sale?
