Hey Socialites! We have a guest post by Shanerii of www.DeChantaShanerii.com today as a part of the "You Can Hue It" series of brown girls knowing that they can wear bold colors in makeup. Let's welcome her shall we?? *waves hello* and now for the post:
Chocolate Chicks Rock Colorful Lips

Many say beauty is in the eye of the beholder…and I agree that beauty should not be so narrowly defined which is typical for mainstream America. Especially everyday and or exotic brown beauties that aren’t displayed enough on the runway, the media or in publications –unless they are created by ethnic folks themselves. Nonetheless, in 2010 we can honestly say that we have started to see slight acceptance in the variations on beauty in shapes, sizes, complexions start to emerge in all sorts of medium all over the world. With that said, I am one chocolate chick annoyed with other brown chicks who make statements in reference to being afraid to experiment within the realm of their beauty -or simply thinking it wasn’t made for them. I’m talking bold hues in clothing, shoes, accessories, make-up, home accents and furnishings, etc… It’s almost as if they psych themselves out, for color doesn’t fit their lifestyle? The truth is that color fits everyone’s lifestyle….
I’m a staunch advocate for Chocolate Chicks in Colorful Lipstick…he he. I’m a staunch advocate for lots of more important social causes and remedies, but for the moment let’s stick with adding pops of color to your personal style. Last week I went to the mall for lunch and ended up going straight to make-up stores…Sephora, M.A.C. and Target – the cosmetics section.
This season the colors that are trending are the deep and dark berries, variations on the classic red, rich variations of orange and nudes. At Sephora and M.A.C., I tried on various lip colors that caught my eye and took swatches (photo #2 below) of other products I liked for future make-up hauls. My parting thought: I love all of these highly-pigmented long lasting statement lips!

Nude ~ NARS, Velvet Matte Jumbo Lip Pencil “Bettina” $24 @ Sephora
(Style Tip: Before applying any lip color always be sure to prep & prime or moisturize. Below the nude lip pencil is in the center of the lips accompanied by M.A.C. lip liner pencil in “Chestnut”)

Orange ~ NARS, Semi-Matte Lipstick “Heatwave” $24 @ Sephora

Red ~ M.A.C., Matte Lipstick “Ruby Woo” $14.50
(Style Tip: Rock the matte by itself, Pair it with a lip pencil to darken shade, or Add gloss for shine)
A versatile lip color that is worn by all complexions. Gwen Stefani’s signature red lip preferred product is M.A.C.’s Ruby Woo (photo credit: splashnews.com).

Deep Dark Berry/Eggplant Color ~ Wet n’ Wild, “508A” under $2 @ Rite Aid
(Style Tip: Pair it with a lip pencil to keep color in place. I used M.A.C’s “Currant”)

Fellow Socialites, what bold hue will be your signature lip stain this fall???
My color is M.A.C’s Matte Lipstick “So Chaud,” paired with Chestnut liner. I love the burst of color against the backdrop of my complexion!
