No Shrinking Violet Over Here

I LOOOOVE purple, especially bright violets (hello, have you seen the site layout? Didn't skimp on the purple there).  When I stumbled upon a spiked collar violet shirt at Forever 21, it was a foregone conclusion that I had to have it.

Here's a makeup look that I did with it and the collar which is cool:

I wanted a pop of silver and dolly bottom lashes, so that's the look that I went with:

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet Caramel Foundation

Isadora Purple Dream Blush

Urban Decay Money eyeshadow

Too-Faced Long Stem Lashes liquid liner

Clinique Bottom Lash mascara

99 cent beauty store lip liner as lipstick (I put a bit of Clinique Black Honey lipstick on later but not in the pics)

It is this shirt, but in violet which they don't have on the site for whatever reason and it was $21 in stores.  I bought it 2 days ago, so it is certainly still available.

Just a Little Bit of Arm Candy

Go For Bold

So girls, do you find yourself drooling over bold statement handbags as they are paraded down the catwalk? Or, have you ever dreamt about walking down the street, clutching onto the latest, most desired handbag or accessory?  Well I know I have! It’s time to stop dreaming girls. We all need a little advice on what’s hot and what’s not on the handbag scene this year, and I’m here to give it.

Women and bags are known for their love affair, but which bag is right for you? Much simpler than finding a date on Match.com, simply checking out the range of Hermes bags will provide you with the perfect answer!

Bright, Bold and Gold!

You’ve seen those bags in all the movies, and it would be a great way to spoil yourself rotten...splurge on a bright and bold bag, you know you want to! Ladies, for most of the year you’ll hold yourself back from buying that bag because you were “being sensible” with your savings. But this is the time, this is your opportunity to brighten those dull, dreary days, and there is nothing more guaranteed to put a spring in your step than a colourful, bold, designer handbag, don’t you agree? Yes, I thought so.  Bright colours are this season’s must have. Menthe is a colour which is so bright and fresh, that it can’t fail to turn a few of heads. Or what about causing a red alert? A large bold red handbag will add a touch of class to that ‘little black dress’ calling out your name in the wardrobe.

The Bigger, The Better
Ladies, we’ve all been there - standing at the cashier counter with our heads in our handbags, with its contents frantically flying across the room. Losing your keys, phone or purse is unavoidable when you have your whole life hanging on your shoulder. The bigger the bag, the bolder! Although small is cute, big is an easy eye-catcher and pleaser. Turn a few...hundred heads and at the same time girls, hold your makeup, hairbrush, deodorant and those all important heel insoles – you can’t forget them. Just imagine, the perfect fashionable travel companion by your side at all times, a girl couldn’t ask for more.

Choosing Your Skin

The beauty about buying a designer handbag and a Hermes bag in particular, is the fact that no matter what your style, or what you intend to use your bag for; there will be a leather ready for you to clutch. In fact ladies, there is so much choice, you may need to bring another girlfriend along to help you choose. For those who are devoted to fashion, but like their pieces to last, then pick a hardy leather skin like Togo, grained baby calf leather, or Taurillon Clemence, a textured baby bull leather. Remember Ladies, although it may seem like a lot of money at the time, with the right care and attention, your bag will still be as beautiful and dependable in many years to come. More faithful than most men, your handbag can last you a lifetime and is the perfect investment for any of the fashion conscious.

As explored, it’s obvious that each handbag will turn different fashion conscious heads. So, before paying out, make sure your love affair is the perfect match for you. Remember, be bold, be bright and be fabulous!

Writer Alexandra is a dedicated fashion follower and would recommend checking out Bags of Luxury for your next piece of Hermes arm candy.

Stiff Back or Stiff Knees, You Stand Straight at Tiffanys - New Job Makeup

I've been showing you guys some makeup looks that I've been wearing to interviews and you all have been wishing me luck, which I definitely appreciate :)  One of those interviews worked out and I'm now working at *drumroll please* Tiffanys! I'll finally be the owner of a little blue box lol.  If any of you have Tiffany's jewels on your Christmas wishlists, send your folks my way or have them do a phone order with me at the Downtown Chicago location ;) Commission never hurts.

Here's a makeup look that I wore for my first day:

Makeup used:

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet foundation in caramel

Sleek Original Palette

Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick

Urban Decay Perversion eye liner

Black Radiance Toasted Almond Blush

I stan hard for Marilyn Monroe anyway so this job was the perfect excuse to have her as my ringtone for whenever the job calls or as my alarm for when I need to get to work:

"Square cut or pear shaped, these rocks don't lose their shape!  Diamond's are a girl's best friend....Tiffanys!"

Cooking With Kenmore and Partying With The Brand New Heavies - Chicago Socialite Adventures

I love Chicago, there's always something fun to get into :)  I never know how my night will twist and turn out.

The Chicago Blogger Network invited me out to the Eden Eats Cookmore with Kenmore event and man was the food good!  Eden demonstrated how to amp up traditional holiday fare in nontraditional ways like curry lentil soup, macaroni and cheese baskets, chimichurri sweet potatoes, and pita stuffing for turkey.  Yummmmy!

Pine nut and fried sage flatbread bar, very savory and a perfect hors d'oeuvres.

Mediterranean turkey with pita bread stuffing...this was so juicy and succulent, which can be hard to do with turkey!  I liked the twist on the stuffing because it had the right consistency, not mushy but not hard or dry.  Doesn't it look all pretty and golden?

Braised shortrib with sour cream on a potato hash cake = heaven in my mouth.  This was so amazingly delicious, wish that I could have hunted down the server for a whole tray!

Sweet potatoes with chimichurri sauce - I love the zing of a good chimi and could eat that sauce on anything from steaks (the traditional companion) to veggies (the nontraditional buddy) and be super satisfied.  The naturally sweet taste of the sweet potatoes plus the herby cilantro pow of the chimi made it a memorable bite.

Eden was super sweet and funny, she had us all cracking up with her adventures in Hurricane Sandy and how she almost didn't even make it to Chicago for the event.  What a harrowing experience with cabbies ditching her, cell phones going out, flashbacks to the 1800s with no power....poor thing!  At least she maintained her sanity/sense of humor through it all!

These were either sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie filled pops and *insert Homer Simpson drool* they were AMAZING!  I want the recipe to these ASAP because I could easily see myself being addicted to them!

What a great time!  Eden was very cool and gracious, Kenmore showcased amazing appliances with turbo boil and a refrigerator that seemed right out of a James Bond movie with how you could flick the wrist and have a secret door, and the food made by both Eden and catered by Truffleberry Market was divine.

After that, since BFF Ashley and I were looking/feeling pretty darn cute, we headed over to The Shrine where The Brand New Heavies were having a concert.  I'd never heard of the band before but I'm not one to turn down a new experience!  It was great and led by N'dea Davenport.  Always cool to find some new peeps to add to the iPod!
