Let's Dance, Let's Shout: Shake Ya Body Down to the Ground

These past two weekends have been a blur of parties: a going away party for Mama since she is moving across the country to Florida *cries* and a welcome party for me to my new apartment in Downtown Chicago :D

First up, I am sooooo going to miss Mama!  She's always featured on this blog because that is my best friend along with BFF Ashley.  What am I going to do, ya'll??  She's starting a new life/career down south and it's going to be so weird to not have her around for foodie adventures, makeup looks, and all of our other good times :(

Pics from Mama's party-

Me and my not so little brother....I swear this is the first photo of him smiling that I've taken in about a decade lol.  Why so serious son??

My new roomie Kinnari had some friends over and we popped bottles, danced, and club hopped.  Thanks for welcoming me into the fold :P

Cheers to new beginnings and fun times ahead :)

Bau Del Aire 2 in 1 Primer and Mask

The Bau Del Aire oil absorbing primer + mask combo was an interesting idea that my skin enjoyed for the most part. Had it been summer when I received it, I could have used it more as my skin tends to flip flop with the seasons (dry in fall/winter, oily in summer) but I did use it enough to form an opinion.

The watery thin texture threw me off as I was expecting something either creamy or gel like to come from the bottle, but I did shake it up so I figure that the thin texture is how it is supposed to be unless my bottle is broken. The main ingredients are purified water and magnesium hydroxide from sea water so I suppose I should have figured that it would be like that.

It says to not use it as a primer that often, so I only did that twice.  My t-zone can get super shiny so I only applied it to those areas, especially my nose.  It was invisible under my makeup and didn't irritate my skin, so I was happy with the application and will use it like that once my skin becomes more oily in warmer temps.  The makeup didnt cake up or anything, so that is a major plus.

As for using it as a mask, I've done that as well and pores appear smaller because they aren't shiny and oil filled; I did that as a treatment like once a week also but on different days than when I used it as a primer so basically twice a week in total.

It's originally from Australia and now ships to the US :D  Oily girls, rejoice!  You can purchase it here:

I'm Something of an It Girl

As a lover of bold colors, bright patterns, and fun fashions, I knew that the "It Girl" Maven package from Julep was a must have for me.

For the holidays, I decided to combine a couple of the colors + nail glitter that was in the box and came up with this look:

Oprah has shouted out Julep in her "Favorite Things" annual list, which I think is really cool.  How Julep works is that they offer subscription boxes for nail goods as well as individual items.  There's a huge array of colors and when you do the "style quiz" they can format a great box according to your personality :D  Super fun!

You can check it out at the Julep Site and use the code JULEPVIP to get an introductory box to try at a discounted rate :D

What are some of your favorite colors on the site?  I'm loving Alicia, America The Beautiful, Brooke, and Georgia :)

RPM Italian - Chicago Socialite Foodie Adventure

RPM Italian is the restaurant that Bill and Guiliana Rancic created and OH BOY....It's my favorite Italian restaurant in the city that I've had so far.  I really love the food there and don't know how I'm just now getting around to writing about it when I've been there plenty of times by now.

Last Friday my homegirl Ariel wanted to go there to celebrate her birthday because she also is super into the yummy cuisine.  The first time that I ever tried it was when I took my mom for her birthday waaaay back in June then I told BFF Ashley to try it who then told Ariel and we've all become huge fans.  Word of mouth is a wonderful thing! It's consistently fabulous and I love the decor/ambience of the place.  It's classy, beautiful, trendy, and chic.

Here are pics from both of the birthdays (Mama's in June and Ariel's this past Friday)

I'm stuck on the Lobster ravioli!  The sauce is brilliantly good with chili and lemon for zing, the filling is has the sweet flavor of lobster along with a pop of salt, and the spinach pasta is al denti perfection.

Prime beef meatballs with marinara are always on deck as an appetizer with my crew.  We LOVE how savory and light they are.  The sauce has us scraping the plate with bread.

Just like I'm stuck on the lobster ravioli, BFF Ashley and Ariel are obsessed with the Short Ribs Papparadelle.  The dish is WAY more hearty than mine, which is why I should start getting it because I'm always hungry after the ravioli lol.  I would happen to fall in love with the one Italian place that doesn't give you a truckload of food per serving.

Fig, lime, and rum drink = oh yeah!

Pine nut tart for dessert, subtle and lovely flavor, not overly sweet.

Chocolate tartufo - hazelnut gelato surrounded by a chocolate shell.  This was pretty good but I'm not a huge chocolate fan so I couldn't really rate it properly.  Chocolate fiends would rejoice!

For both birthday's, there are were these adorable mini ice cream cups that the restaurant gives with candles!

and now for the fun people pictures!
